Description
This course is designed for anyone interested in learning more about how to better support students that are parenting while in college. The goal of this course is to help build a better understanding of the student parent demographic and the need for intentional support from higher education (and adjacent) administrators, faculty, staff, and students.
* This course is included in the Student Parent Ally Certificate program.
Objectives
- Define what we mean by "student parent"
- Provide an overview of national student parent data
- Share student parent stories
- Introduce historical and current racial contexts within U.S. higher education
- Examine racial equity as it relates to student parents
- Learn Generation Hope’s four core competencies for student parent success
